Escaleras Roads

The Escaleras Roads committee was created in May 2022. It is an effort  to work together to maintain the public roads of Escaleras.  The maintenance coverage at this time includes:   Escaleras Jolly Roger road, Escaleras Pozo Azul road, San Martin Sur, and the cross-over road between the four-way corner and the concrete road and the first 400m at the top of Pacific Edge road.  

 

Committee Members are the same as the Asociación board members.  Everyone resides full time in Escaleras and travels these roads.  Leif does the majority of the work with the contractors.  Linda does the majority of the work with the communications and working with the accountant and contributions.   

 

Commitments:

• Part of a formal association is being established in order to meet Costa Rica requirements and get more municipality help

• An independent accountant holds the bank account and manages the receipt of funds, the payments and the accounting of funds into and out of the account.  

• Transparency and communication about payments and costs.

• 100% of the funds are used for the maintenance and emergency repair of the roads and/or the banking and accounting fees.  No committee remembers receive any compensation or payment.  

• Maintain all the roads in good working order to have alternate routes for emergencies and also for convenience of all residents.

• Assess the expenses and contributions at the end of every year to make adjustments.  

• Use the collective efforts to gain better pricing from contractors. 

• Use the collective efforts to influence the municipality to assist. 

• When road work is needed, the committee will approve the work, get the bid, and ensure the work is done properly.  

• Communication will be made from a joint committee email account Escaleras.roads@gmail.com

• At this time, only the primary public roads listed are included in the maintenance.  Sub-roads are handled by the individual communities. (Marina Vista 1, Marina Vista 2, Las Perlas, Las Terrazas, Concrete Road, Costa Verde Estates, etc) 

• Pacific Edge road is not included but may be included if jointly agreed in the future. 

• The Tower road is not included at this time.
